3DSTATE supports the MD2 format directly. MilkShape 3D is
a good program that allows you to convert other formats into the MD2 format, edit
MD2 files and more.
MilkShape 3D is a low-polygon modeler, which was initially designed for Half-Life. During the development, many file formats have been added. |

MilkShape 3D has all basic operations like select, move,
rotate, scale, extrude, turn edge, subdivide, just to mention a few. MilkShape 3D
also allows low-level editing with the vertex and face tool. Primitives like spheres,
boxes and cylinders are also available.
MilkShape 3D has also skeletal animation capabilities. This allows to export to morph target animation like the ones in the Quake model formats or to export to skeletal animations like Half-Life or Genesis3d. | 3DS MAX 5 and 3DS MAX 6 Converter (Author Vasbin - BEV Team ) | |

Here is how: 1. Download the converter and add the the 3ds script file to 3DS MAX Scripts directory ( the *.ms file) 1. Inside 3DS Max add lighting shadows and other effects till your Max world looks really good. 2. From the Rendering menu choose Render To Texture 3. Select Channel 2 and LightingMap and then click on the Render button (you can also increase the lightmap size to at least 768x768 for better results) 4. Converting the world to 3DSTATE wld format. Run the script (Tools->Max Scripts -> Run Script) and that's all ! 5. [Optional] Convert the wld file (text format) into the 3dstate file format (binary format). This will speed up the time it takes to load a world significantly. You can do it by loading the wld file and then calling STATE_engine_save() or by using these tools (wld to 3dstate converter and a simple viewer) You can now load the converted world from your code ! | 3DSTATE file format (wld files) is a very straight forward format for describing 3D worlds. Please note though that if you write a converter from 3DSTATE/Morfit to your target format, it is better not to go into the file format specifics ! Simply load the world using STATE_engine_load_world(...., EDITOR_MODE) and then go over all the polygons and output them in your target format. | ||
